Will You Be Made Whole?

Saturday, March 16, 2013
There is the story found in John chapter 5, of an impotent man who had suffered a physical ailment for 38 years. Jesus Christ met this man at the pool of Bethesda and asked the man a simple question:
Will you be made whole?

In other words, the Answer asked a question. The all-knowing and infinite God asked a finite man a question, "Will you be made whole?" The man's reply gives a hint as to why the question was asked in the first place. Instead of saying Yes, or perhaps No, the man began to make excuses. He said:
Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. - John 5:7
Jesus went ahead and healed the man but we can learn from this. We can learn that it is not any man, it is not our education or lack there of, it is not our connections, it is not any demon under torment - that keeps us from being all that God wants us to be. It is our failure to provide a yes or no to this simple question: "Will you be made whole?"

Through this question, God is telling us that the game has changed. It is no longer who you know, but who knows you. Jesus Christ, the God of heaven and earth knows you and He is asking today. Will you be made whole? I hope your answer is to the affirmative.
